How to Use Solana Tokens (Beginner Guide)

Last updated: November 5, 2025

1) What you’ll learn

You will install a wallet, save your recovery phrase, add a small amount of SOL for fees, receive USDC/USDT/FSHAP, learn that the same Solana address works for all tokens on the Solana network, make a simple swap on a DEX, and complete a safe payment on Fanshap.

2) Wallets: Phantom & alternatives

A wallet is an app that holds your crypto keys and lets you send/receive tokens. We suggest Phantom for beginners because it is simple and popular. Alternatives include Solflare, Backpack and Trust Wallet (with Solana enabled).

  1. Install Phantom from the official store: mobile (Android/iOS) or browser extension (Chrome/Firefox). Avoid links from messages or ads.
  2. Open Phantom → “Create new wallet”. Write down the recovery phrase (12–24 words). Set a strong password for the app.
  3. You now have a Solana address (a long string). This is safe to share to receive funds. The recovery phrase is private—never share it.

3) Protect your recovery phrase

  • Write it on paper and keep it offline (not on email, notes, or photos).
  • Never share it. Support or staff will never ask for your recovery phrase.
  • If someone gets your phrase, they can take your funds. Create a new wallet if you suspect exposure.

4) Get a bit of SOL for fees

Solana needs a tiny amount of SOL to pay network fees (even when sending USDC/USDT/FSHAP). You can buy a small amount of SOL inside Phantom (if available in your region) or transfer some SOL from a trusted exchange to your Solana address.

  • Buy a few euros/dollars of SOL. You do not need much.
  • When withdrawing from exchanges, pick the Solana network (not Ethereum, not Tron).
  • Always test with a small amount first.

5) Receive USDC/USDT/FSHAP (on Solana)

  1. Open Phantom → tap “Receive”.
  2. Choose the token (USDC, USDT or FSHAP). If you don’t see FSHAP, use “Manage” / “Add token” and add it as a custom token with the official mint address below.
  3. Copy your Solana address and share it with the sender. After confirmation, the balance appears (usually fast).

6) Swap tokens on a DEX (simple method)

A DEX lets you convert one token to another. Many wallets (like Phantom) include a “Swap” button that uses a DEX in the background. This is the easiest method for beginners. You can swap between USDC, USDT and FSHAP directly in the wallet.

  1. Open Phantom → “Swap”.
  2. Select the token you have (e.g., USDC) and the token you want (e.g., FSHAP or USDT).
  3. Enter the amount → review the quote → confirm. Keep a little SOL for fees.

Advanced users may use Jupiter or Raydium. As a beginner, the in-wallet swap is usually simpler and safer.

7) Pay safely on Fanshap

  1. On the checkout page you will see the amount and the token accepted (USDC, USDT, or FSHAP).
  2. Click “Pay” → your wallet opens and shows the transaction details. Double-check the token and the amount.
  3. Confirm the transaction. Wait a few seconds: you will see a success message on Fanshap when the payment is received.

8) Common issues & fixes

  • I cannot send—wallet says insufficient SOL. Buy or receive a small amount of SOL to cover network fees.
  • I sent a token but it does not arrive. Check you used the Solana network (SPL). If sent on another network, it will not show in your Solana wallet.
  • I do not see FSHAP/USDC/USDT in Phantom. Use “Manage” / “Add token” and search the token. For FSHAP, add the official mint above.
  • Swap failed. Try a smaller amount, wait a minute, or keep a little more SOL for fees.

9) Simple glossary

  • Wallet — An app that allows you to hold, send and receive tokens.
  • Recovery phrase (seed) — Words that can restore your wallet. Keep them offline and secret.
  • SOL — The coin used to pay fees on Solana.
  • SPL token — A token standard on Solana (e.g., USDC, USDT, FSHAP on Solana).
  • DEX / Swap — A tool to convert one token into another.

10) Safety checklist

  • Never share your recovery phrase.
  • Use only official app stores and verified links.
  • Keep a small buffer of SOL for fees.
  • Double-check addresses and network (Solana) before sending.
  • If unsure, test with a tiny amount first.
